Volvo Cars Leverages Tesla Superchargers

In a significant milestone in the world of electric vehicles (EVs), Volvo Cars, a global automotive leader, has announced a historic agreement with Tesla. This partnership will provide electric Volvo drivers with access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking a leap forward in the Volvo Tesla Supercharger agreement.

Volvo’s Electric Aspirations by 2030

As part of Volvo’s strategy to become a fully electric car maker by 2030, it has become the first European car maker to form such an alliance with Tesla. This move is a direct reflection of Volvo’s commitment to making transportation more sustainable and enhancing the EV driving experience for its customers.

The Volvo-Tesla Agreement: A Boost for Electric Mobility

Under this agreement, future Volvo cars, starting from 2025, will be equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port in North America. This further solidifies the Volvo Tesla Supercharger agreement, making EV charging more convenient and accessible for Volvo drivers.

Charging Infrastructure: The Key to EV Adoption

“One major inhibitor to more people making the shift to electric driving – a key step in making transportation more sustainable – is access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure. Today, with this agreement, we’re taking a major step to remove this threshold for Volvo drivers in the United States, Canada and Mexico,” said Jim Rowan, CEO at Volvo Cars.

The Future of Volvo Cars: Equipped with NACS Charging Port

Drivers of future Volvo cars equipped with the NACS charging port will be able to continue charging using the Combined Charging System (CCS) with an adapter provided by Volvo. This provides users with versatile charging options and makes transitioning to electric driving less daunting.

Tesla Superchargers: Amplifying Access for Volvo EV Drivers

As Tesla continues to expand its Supercharger network, the number of fast-charge points available to Volvo drivers is expected to grow beyond the initial 12,000. This expansion is a substantial addition to the tens of thousands of fast-charge points already accessible to Volvo drivers.

Volvo Mobile App: Simplifying EV Charging

The Volvo Cars app will offer real-time information on the availability of chargers and will enable drivers to pay for their charging sessions through one single interface. The app simplifies the charging process, making it as straightforward as possible for Volvo car owners.

Performance in 2022

In 2022, Volvo Car Group recorded an operating profit of SEK 22.3 billion, with revenue amounting to SEK 330.1 billion and global sales reaching 615,121 cars, reinforcing the brand’s strong market position.

About Volvo Car Group: Aiming for Climate-Neutral by 2040

With the ambition to be a climate-neutral company by 2040, Volvo is forging ahead with its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The company currently employs approximately 43,200 full-time employees worldwide and continues to make strides in product development and marketing.

Volvo and Tesla Driving the Future of Sustainable Transportation

The Volvo Tesla Supercharger agreement signifies a monumental step towards achieving greater sustainability in transportation. As two industry giants join forces, the future of electric mobility looks bright. This partnership will not only revolutionize the EV charging infrastructure but will also play a crucial role in encouraging more people to embrace electric vehicles.
