About the Consortium

Altair, a global leader in computational science and artificial intelligence, joins forces with JLR and Danecca, bringing together their unique strengths. Altair will provide its expertise in simulation and data analytics tools, JLR will incorporate their advanced vehicle design processes, and Danecca will contribute its proficiency in battery technology.

Innovative Design Process

The collaboration aims to create lighter, more energy-efficient electric vehicles. “We are excited to collaborate with JLR and Danecca on this innovative project,” said Royston Jones, senior vice president of automotive at Altair.

“Our tools will enable the consortium to develop a new design process for electric vehicles and batteries, making these vehicles lighter and more energy-efficient.”

JLR will apply Altair’s C123 process, a unique three-stage concept development process for body-in-white structures, along with Altair® OptiStruct™, a leading FEA solver.

“This research project with Altair and Danecca marks an important step forward in creating electric vehicles that deliver sustainable e-mobility for the future,” said Paul Haney, battery technology senior manager at JLR.

Danecca’s managing director, Danson Michael Joseph, also expressed enthusiasm: “By partnering with Altair and JLR, Danecca has the chance to advance the development of electric vehicles and battery technology.”

Impact on Electric Vehicle Development

This project, running from February 2023 to January 2025, is not just about designing new EVs; it’s a step towards a greener, more sustainable future. The consortium’s efforts could significantly impact the automotive industry, potentially leading to breakthroughs in battery technology and vehicle efficiency.

Future Prospects

The research results will remain with the consortium members after the project, with potential applications for other customers or projects. This endeavor symbolizes a commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector.

Conclusion

The Altair, JLR, and Danecca consortium is more than a collaboration; it’s a beacon of hope for a sustainable future. As these industry giants unite their expertise, the promise of efficient and eco-friendly electric vehicles becomes more tangible.
